About Me

Welcome to Creating Light.

My name is Kelsey Morgan, and I believe that the only way we can create light in our lives is by having the courage to feel our darkness. I guide people in healing, embodiment, and liberation through art therapy, somatic movement, and dreamwork.

I’m originally from the Midwest and have been living in Florida since 2019. It’s taken time and intention, but after six years of living here, I finally feel my roots settling. What has really helped with this sense of settling has been joining the acro community! It’s such an essential hobby for me that brings play, fun, and joy.

This healing journey can get real serious and acro is a lovely reminder for me that life doesn’t have to be so serious all of the time. It is also meant to be enjoyed! It has been such a blessing to be experiencing the entire spectrum instead of feeling entrapped by my darkness.

Art has been part of my life since childhood, but in a free-spirited way. Growing up, I loved making abstract creations and telling stories through art (little did I know, that’s the essence of art therapy). One of my favorite things I created as a kid was a leprechaun house. I wasn’t interested in catching them, I just wanted them to visit and hang out!

In undergrad, I struggled with being trained in fine arts because creating “perfect” pieces to then be critiqued never resonated with me. Looking back, I think my soul always knew it was here for expression, even if I didn’t have the words for it at the time. I was thrilled to discover in my graduate program that Art Therapy is creating for the sole purpose of expression, not to make something look “good.”

Just like art, dancing has also been part of my life since childhood in a free-spirited way. I was the kid that was constantly making up dances or having dance parties in my room with the fun lights. Which I am proud to say that I still do those types of dance parties today! I was involved in some studios as a kid, and was on the dance team in high school, but I never got too serious with the art of dance. I wouldn’t call myself a “good” dancer, but I sure do know how to flail my body around!

So, of course I was pleasantly surprised to discover when getting certified in Somatic Activated Healing™ that somatic movement is also just that, moving the body around (flailing if you must) purely for expression.

Movement for the sake of feeling, not performance.
